2008 Historic Mooresville Tour of Homes

October 18 & 19; VIP Reception October 17

The Mooresville Historic Preservation Commission and DEJ Realty, in collaboration with the Mooresville Museum, are excited to announce the 2008 Historic Mooresville Tour of Homes, this October  18th and 19th, with a special VIP reception the evening of October 17th.  This year’s tour will feature 9 historic homes never before opened to the public, as well three historic buildings in Downtown Mooresville.

The JA Stewart House at 832 N Main

On the Historic Mooresville Tour of Homes, the houses have a story to tell. Once again this year, you will be accompanied each tour by a docent who will share with you the history behind the house.
This year, the tour will highlight the wide variety of Mooresville’s historic housing stock. The historic houses featured range from the 5300-square-foot J. A. Stewart House, to a 900-square-foot mill house. The 1906 family home of Zebulon Vance Turlington, Mooresville Town Attorney and Iredell County State Representative, will be featured. The tour will also include one of the oldest homes in Downtown Mooresville, the W.M. Lentz House, as well as the Davidson Family House.

Rich Hawkins, Colin Davis and Patrick Stutts hard at work painting the entrance area of the museum

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Tuesday Morning Mooresville Rotary Club for their community spirit of volunteerism. For several hot Thursday evenings in July, these men and women spent their time painting the interior of the Charles Mack building on East Center Avenue.

Loretta Fodrie, a new member of the museum, is hard at work sprucing up the building for our future displays.
Now we have a beautiful, clean space to display the many articles which we have collected. Thank you to Patrick Stutts, Rich Hawkins, Jimmy McLean, Colin Davis, Loretta Fodrie, Bill Young and Bill Morrow.
